Education
Lana has always been curious about understanding the dynamics around conflict. She started her training at Langara College by completing a Peace and Conflict Associates Degree, then furthered her studies at the University of B.C., where she earned her Bachelors Degree in International Relations. In order to pursue her passion in mediation, Lana has completed over 462 hours in Conflict Mediation and Negotiation Training from the Justice Institute of British Colombia and has attained her Family Mediation Certificate from JIBC. In accordance with the BC Family Law Act Regulations for family mediators, Lana is certified as a Comprehensive Family Mediator with Family Mediation Canada (the “Comprehensive” designation requires additional training in division of assets and other financial aspects of separation). She’s also a Family Roster Mediator with Mediate BC. These two organizations ensure that their members are highly skilled in mediation and up-to-date with family law information
Character
Lana has a passion and a gifting to help families resolve disputes in order to move forward in life. She is able to gain people’s trust and creates an environment that helps people feel comfortable to share their lives. She is empathetic and is able to help families with their individual needs. Lana has a unique and personal style of relating with hurting people that helps create an environment where her clients want to engage and work through issues. She has a positive disposition that assists those around her to be more confident. She strongly believes that deep-down her clients know what is best for their situation, and as a result she works hard to create open-ended and flexible settings that always benefit the clients. She becomes only as assertive as she needs to be, guiding and facilitating so that the end result is successful removal of barriers that are getting in the way.

Lana seeks to resolve disputes in a professional and warm manner – no matter the context and issues involved. She uses a collaborative and sensible approach, that her clients find surprising and refreshing. While she understands that the financial and legal aspects of a conflict are important, she also recognizes and respects the significance of the emotional components and the role they play in affecting the outcome of any conflict. She will strive to help her clients achieve solutions which preserve relationships as well as individual financial/legal interests.
